What is a great hotel in New Orleans?
I am going for a couple days this summer and want to be able to walk to lots of great sights without having to drive much. Something beautiful would be fantastic.

- Royal Omni. Great hotel & fab location.
- Hotel Monteleone - it's located in the French Quarter. Check out their website: http://hotelmonteleone.com/
- The first two answers have good suggeations. Also check http://www.frenchquarterhotels.com/ for more non-chain hotel ideas. Are you already familiar with New Orleans? If not, please post another question asking about the city or write to us.
- Royal Omni & Hotel Monteleone get great rates at www.LouMarTravel.com
- If you want to be right in the French Quarter, then I suggest the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street. There is also the W hotel off of Canal right next to Harrah's Casino, these both are great hotels. I divide my stays at both.
- Go to the French Quarters and get a hotel there. Its the most magnificant trip and hotel I've ever been to. We went to the "le richelieu" and it was WONDERFUL. Talk about elegant antique but yet clean and just plain beautiful. We got a one room suite and the room had HIGH HIGH ceilings, gorgeous view, and it was HUGE and cheap. Beat that! Another thing that was great is that it was close to everything in the French Quarters, which in my opinion is the best part of New Orleans. Oh, and before i forget, they have a PRIVATE parking lot. That's right, you don't find that just anywhere down there.
- There are plenty of beautiful hotels in the French Quarter, like the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street, or the Omni Royal Orleans on St. Louis. www.omniroyalorleans.com. A lot of smaller hotels in the Quarter have gorgeous courtyards, like the Place D' Arms, on Saint Ann and Chartres, the hotel Saint Marie, or the Prince Conti. For more info, go to: www.valentinohotels.com, access code--Visitors. In the business district, which is close to the French Quarter, the Le Pavillon Hotel on Poydras is one of the most beautiful, as it has antiques and original artwork throughout, as well as a row of beautiful crystal chandeliers in the main lobby. A sister hotel is the Omni Royal Crescent at 535 Gravier St. in the business district. www.omniroyalcrescent.com. Happy hotel hunting! There is also the Ritz-Carlton on Canal Street, which is conveniently located for everything.
- Hotel Monteleone.
