Best 4 or 5 star hotel in downtown New Orleans?

Looking for a luxury hotel that is nice (that you have been to) and looking for one in a safe part of New Orleans that is very close to Bourbon and French Quarter and that will let 19 year olds check in.

  1. Windsor Court http://www.windsorcourthotel.com/web/onor/onor_a2a_home.jsp probably need to be 21.
  2. There is always the Hilton, Sheraton, The W and the Marriott, but those are all big name hotels. Why do that? If you really want a nice experience at a historic and restored hotel inside the quarter...go for Maison d'Ville, and book the carriage house room. It's in the free-standing carriage house (duh) out back that was built back in the 1700's....and overlooks the Court of Two Sisters restaurant outdoor patio...and the hotel is located right in the heart of the French Quarter. This hotel used to be slave quaters way back in the day...and the buildings are possibly some of the oldest in the city....dating back before even George Washington became president! http://www.maisondeville.com/ It's located on Rue Toulouse between Bourbon and Royal Streets. You can't go wrong there. Tennessee Williams stayed there while writing 'A Streetcar Named Desire' and also the artist James Audubon stayed there painting his bird of America series paintings... Dive into the flavor of New Orleans....forget the big name hotels.... Also, try the Royal Sonesta. Another nice hotel....but not as special. Maison is BEST!
  3. Not sure what hotel if any will let you check in if under 21 but here are some suggestions for you. Le Pavillon Hotel, its very nice. http://www.lepavillon.com/ Another very nice hotel in the French Quarter is the Monteleone Hotel. http://hotelmonteleone-px.trvlclick.com/ I would also say The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans is right up there. http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties... If you want a nice Bed and Breakfast in the French Quarter I would suggest. http://www.maisondubois.net/

  5. The other answers have good suggestions. Most of the Holiday Inn properties will let an 18 y/o check in: www.priorityclub.com Also check www.frenchquarterhotels.com for non-chan hotels. Good luck!
