Whats the best hotel in new orleans during music festival?

Does anyone know the best place to stay in new orleans during the 2008 music festival july4-6.I know they have several areas where you can stay .....like downtown,french quarter ,or warehouse district. I want a nice hotel and I want to be near the main attractions. THis is my first time going!

Probably anything close to Canal would be a good choice so you can easly walk there and back. The CBD (downtown) is not something I would general recommend as it can be hit or miss at night.
I recommend staying in the French Quarter (Vieux Carre") if you can. There is a very wide range of selections available, from moderate guest houses to very exclusive "boutique" hotels. the marriott on canal st. its right next to bourbon street(perfect for walkin back drunk. lol.. j/k) plus located in the french quarter and walkin distance to everywhere in the quarter since its central locale. its the best :) safe tourist area, clean, best location! :) have fun in nawlins!
