Where should I rent a hotel in New Orleans?

Me and my fiance and a couple of friends are going to New Orleans on our first trip. He has been once before but I have never been. Where is the best place to get a hotel in New Orleans? We also need a low priced hotel. Any suggestions?

  1. I have always had wonderful luck putting friends and family at Maison DuBois Bed and Breakfast. They have large suites, wonderful pool and spa and great location to everything in french quarter and frenchmen street. http://www.maisondubois.net/
  2. well around mardi gras, all hotle rate go up.. so ure pretty much stuck on that 1.. but any hotel in the french quarter area is good.. i mean u wont have to worry about transportation cause everything is in walking distance.
  3. I recommend staying in the French Quarter (Vieux Carre") if you can, or at least in the Central Business District or the Warehouse District. There is a very wide range of selections available, from moderate guest houses to very exclusive "boutique" hotels. Try http://www.villaconvento.com/ and http://www.frenchquarterhotels.com/ Also check the travel sites like airgorilla, orbitz, and travelocity. Do check the hotel website as they sometimes have better rates or specials that don't appear on the travel sites. Good luck! Note that questions like your tend to attract highly negative "answers" from people who do not live here and who have little or no idea what they are talking about. For example, the answer after mine suggests you stay in the "small town" of Metairie, which is actually a suburb with a population of about 300,000. It is NOT necessary to stay in the suburbs to avoid crime - just use the same common sense you need in every city in the world and you will be fine.
  4. low priced means dangerous.. im serious.. do you know how much crime is there? i would suggest driving to a small town right outside of new orleans.. like meterie.. a lot safer and will be cheaper than staying directly in new orleans.. theres always a motel 8 around anywhere you go.. just wing it!
  5. If you're coming during the week of Ash Wednesday, avoid the Quarter if you want to get sleep. If you want to party with thousands of other people, then Hotel Provincial in the Quarter is really nice. Check out some hotels in Uptown. Its a nice neighborhood and you can take the streetcar into the quarter if you want to. PS- Don't stay in Metairie if you want a taste of NOLA. Its just like any other suburban area in the United States.
  6. you should stay right on bourbon street. every time people visit i recommend they stay there and use http://www.travelcusehotels.com to book their stay. the site is an aggregator which means it takes offers from various online sites and shows you the best deals. good luck
  7. What about the Ramada Inn? That's lower priced, then most. Or the Quality Inn and Suites? That's another one you may want to look into. Don't forget to try and do the Steamboat cruise when the two of you are there. And there's some Ghost tours as well, the two of you should look into. 8. I prefer to stay in hotels that I know what I am going to get! I've travelled a lot and have come to realize that there are certain chain hotels that offer consistent quality rooms, service, and value. I made a little web page with my hotel recommendations. You actually get a discount when you click through my site! Thanks http://www.Travel.Reviews-n-Ratings.com
