  1. as far as i know there really arent any cheap hotels in the french quater
  2. There is a Best Western on Rampart that was reasonable last year. Also has on sight parking but you have to pay per nite for that also.
  3. Check the travel sites like Expedia & Orbitz. Also check the hotel websites once you narrow your choices. Go to www.frenchquarterhotels.com for some non-chain hotels in the French Quarter. The Hotel Villa Convento often has the best rates for a hotel in the FQ, and is the only hotel downtown I know of that offers free parking to guests: www.villaconvento.com If you are a student (with a valid student ID) or an international visitor (passport required) you may want to consider staying at the India House Hostel (which is NOT in the French Quarter) http://www.indiahousehostel.com/ If you plan to stay for a month or more you should call the hotels (once you narrow your choices) and speak with the sales managers about "long term" rates. Be nice about it, but tell them you are comparing rates. Even if they don't/won't give you a break for staying long-term, you may be able to negotiate for things like free parking, free breakfast, and/or a much better room. Note that >> none << of the hotels in the answer from "Discovery Channel" are in the French Quarter, and most of them are not close to downtown. Good luck!
  4. The ground is the cheapest place to stay in the French Quarters but that ain't cheap because the city would probably tax you like crazy to sleep on the ground. Go to Priceline.com bid on a place where you want to stay. Sorry but ever since Katrina everything has gone up like crazy. Volunteer to help build homes. There are a few organizations that provide room and board. I don't know which ones do this.

  6. If you want something with a little character, the Provincial on Chartres is right in the heart of the Quarter. It's pretty and reasonably-priced. It's a historic property, the rooms have some antiques and while it's not luxurious, it's perfectly nice. There's a courtyard with a pool and you get free continental brkfst. Beinville House has been there many yrs., it's known as a low cost hotel with an artsy atmosphere. Not quite as nice as Provincial, but great location nr. Jackson Square. You might like Port o' Call on Esplanade. Someone told me to go there, saying it's the best cheeseburger on earth. It's a dive bar with really good food. Another cheap place to eat is Poppy's on St.Peter Street.
  7. why stay cheap? if your gonna go out...go out...the Le Pavillion is a GREAT hotel...go there...youll have everything you want there...there arent really cheap hotels around the french quarter...trust me...i live ten minutes away from it...just have a good time down here!
  8. Hotel Monteleone. Wonderful Hotel in the French Quarter. Be careful of the Carousal Bar. That gives bed spins a whole new meaning. They also have a great Piano Bar. Plus the rooms are quiet. Very heavy security. No partying in rooms allowed at all.
  9. Check the rates of cheap hotels worldwide at http://www.all-cheaphotelreservations.com We have the cheap hotels in over 128 countries worldwide, Good luck.
