Can anyone tell me a nice decently priced safe hotel in New orleans?

We are going in June and it'll just be us for gals so if anyone can suggest something in a nice part of town that won't cost an arm and a leg we'd appreciate it...

1. Whenever I'm in New Orleans, I always stay at the Monteleone. It's a nice old-world hotel. There isn't anything cheap in New Orleans at all.
2. Check into the Blue Dolphin.
3. I personally like the Haraha's Casino Hotel. It is super nice and the staff is really freindly. It's right near everything as well and drinks are free in the Casino 24-7! You would definately have a good time. You can also call them and tell them you want a membership to the Casino. My husband and I did this and we got a free room!!!!!! Doesn't hurt to try. Also if you sign up for the membership you get coupons monthly for a $30 a night rate. Have fun!
4. Stay at a hotel actually in the French Quarter if you can. Doing that is very convenient and you get the most from the experience + don't have to worry about finding parking places or taxis for exploring most of downtown. Check travel sites like Expedia & Orbitz. Also compare via the hotel websites as the travel sites do not always have the best deals. Go to www.frenchquarterhotels.com com for some nice non-chain hotel in the French Quarter. 5. the place d armes hotel on st ann st is a very comfortable hotel. i is about 2 1/2 blocks away from bourbon st and the cafe dumonde. they have there own garage that has someone in it at all times.
