- I think the location of the Monteleone is better. It's right in the French Quarter while the Ritz is at the edge. You can compare user reviews of the two hotels here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60864-d120852-Reviews-The_Ritz_Carlton_New_Orleans-New_Orleans_Louisiana.html http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60864-d89148-Reviews-Monteleone_Hotel-New_Orleans_Louisiana.html
- I stayed at the Monteleone this weekend and it was very nice. It is a block from bourbon and there are plenty of shops and places to eat around it. I've never stayed at the Ritz. If you want to be in the middle of the French Quarter and not on the outskirts go with the Monteleone.
- Depends on what you want. The Ritz-Carlton is a new hotel while the Monteleone is a classic New Orleans hotel. Both have good locations, though the Monteleone is 2 blocks inside the FQ while the Ritz is on Canal Street (one of the boundaries of the FQ).
- I have to agree with my previous answerer. We live in Lafayette, Louisiana on the other side of the state. Every six weeks, my husband and I retreat to New Orleans for our "date weekend" and we ALWAYS stay at the Hotel Monteleone. That is the granddaddy of New Orleans. There are places that are fancier, more expensive and such.. but no other gives you the true New Orleans feeling..
- I think you will be happy with either. The other comments that have been mentioned about location are correct but both are nicely located. But if you want more historic I would go with the Moneteleone. But you can never go wrong with the Ritz.
- The Monteleone is in the French Quarter and is close to many attractions tourists want to visit. The Ritz is a few blocks out of the way.
- Try neworleanshotels.com We usually stay at a hotel on St Charles Avenue or Metairie or the French Quarters.
- The Monteleon is in the French Quarter and it's an older hotel. The Ritz is on Canal St but still handy to the French Quarter from the rear. The Ritz is probably the newest and finest hotel in New Orleans. The former Maison Blanche department store building was given a multimillion dollar remodel to create the Ritz. Carlton. I've stayed at the Monteleon and the room was nice but kinda of old. If I had a choice I personally would stay at the 5 star Ritz. . http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/NewOrleans/Default.htm. . http://www.hotelmonteleone.com/photo/gallery/ .
