New Orleans Vacation French Quarter Knowledge Base
Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, or Caribbean Beach at Walt Disney World? I am trying to decide between Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, or Caribbean Beach at Walt Disney World. I am definitely staying onsite at one of these three. Has anyone stayed and can give me comparisons? I know that they are all moderate hotels. I just want to hear from people who have actually stayed at these hotels. I am traveling with a 3 and 5 year old. I think I am going to bring a double stroller so will have to be lugging that around too. Which ones have the least travel time involved going to the parks? Any other hints you can give me for my vacation? I am staying at the All Star Resort also....but our stay at these hotels will be part of our cruise package. Also has anyone heard of the mansions there? Can you tell me about them, please.
Is New Orleans Safe to vacation in now? Has anyone been there recently? Is it safe if you stay in the French Quarter and dont go anywhere else? Is everything there still open? Does it still look the same?
How many days should we spend in New Orleans during Christmas? When I watched TV the other night, the government Officials encouraged tourists to visit New Orleans. They said it helped building up the economy. So, me and my friend are thinking a vacation to New Orleans during Christmas. How many days should we spend in New Orleans? We want to see the French Quarter. But, if we go during Christmas, can we see anything? Besides the French Quarter, what else can we do? Remember we only have 3 days. We don't want to spend too much time on traffic. Any good eating places in New Orleans? Please advise. Thanks! Since you folks recommend us to stay for a week, what can we do besides bar hopping?
During Augest do I want to visit Cozumel or New Orleans? I am taking my friend on vacation. Want to spend $1000 or less on flight and hotel. She wants to go to Cozumel. Vacation rental in French quarter? Last year, I stayed in a hotel on Dauphine and I am planning to go back to New Orleans for a long Labor day weekend this year. I'm thinking that renting a condo might be less expensive that the $170 a night/per room hotel stay and since the 3 people going include male and female (all friends)...splitting one hotel room does not really work Besides VRBO.com, can anyone tell me a reputable way to find a condo rental that can sleep 4 for under $200 a night? We would need the condo for 5 nights, and are all professionals and homeowners from up north.
Travel to New Orleans for vacation...? Is New Orleans back in business? Are there things to do? I'd like to fly and stay somewhere where I am in walking distance of everything, I don't want to rent a car. Is the French Quarter a good spot for this? I want to go to experience the history, do some sightseeing, dine out, shop a little, and drink and party at night. I'm not interested in going for Mardi Gras...will there be anything to do? I'm not sure if the city is back to its glory since Hurricane Katrina... Has anyone gone recently or from there? Just me and my fiance going. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, which hotel or B&B would be best to stay in? I love history and would like to stay in a local hotel rather than a chain.
Advice for first family trip to New Orleans? We are planning our first trip to New Orleans, my son is 11. So far we've found a nice hotel in the french quarter and know that we want to do some of the walking tours and of course the zoo and aquarium. I've seen a little about the street cars, is that how most of our traveling should be done? How much does that cost? This will be a very inexpensive vacation for us.. any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated!!!
Should I move to New Orleans? I visited New Orleans recently. It was awesome. I currently live in Indianapolis and am considering moving to New Orleans. Should I move there? Where should I live there? Does anyone have any info. My career is in marketing and I am single and in my late 20's. Is it a good place to live full time or just for vacations? Do I want to live in the french quarter?
What to do in New Orleans? I have heard that New Orleans is a rough city. What precautions should we take when vacationing there? Is it safe to drive our vehicle around the city? Carry cash? See sites outside the French Quarter..? Thanks!
Disney Resort Deathmatch? Ok, I'm going to sound NUTS but I booked a vacation to Disney in October to stay at Coronado Springs, thinking it was moderate, but a little more elegant or something than the other moderate resorts BUT now I am seeing people saying they saw roaches there and I am TERRIFIED of roaches....TERRIFIED :( I want to now switch to Port Orleans French Quarter, and don't see any bad reviews about there being bugs/roaches, not as updated as Coronado, but still NO ROACHES :) Does anyone have any advice for me??? Please help...IM SOOOOO SCARED OF BUGS ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY! So please help me :)
